The district is looking for some members to build an "information and technology team".  Each team member will have a very specific set of duties that will take very little time and help the district immensely.  As always, these are all volunteer positions meaning the pay is nothing but you will get experience working with "Web 2.0" applications.  Please look over the list below and let me know if any position interests you.  These positions will start immediately and continue on until July 1 of 2007, with the possibility of extending until July 1 of 2008.

  • Calendar Administrator.  This member will be in charge of making sure the calendar is up to date with entries posted accurately and detail.  This member will work with district leaders to get information from them needed to update the calendar. Position filled by Ruth Levitsky
  • District E-mail List Moderators.  We need about 3 members who spend a good portion of their days online, that can monitor posts to the district list and approve or deny posts based on content.
  • File Administrator.  This member will be in charge of files uploaded to the district website and files made available for download to the members.  Mostly this entails working with the district team to ensure the files are properly categorized and put in the correct folders.
  • District Photographers.  Ideally we would have 2-3 members who can attend as many district events as possible, take photos using a standard digital camera, and upload them to the district website photo gallery.  The district photographer should also come up with descriptive or fun captions for each photo for the photo gallery.
  • District Video / Audio-ographers!  Ideally we would have 2-3 members who would attend as many district events and either videotape and/or audio record highlights of these events or special sessions, then upload the media to the video / MP3 library for the district to enjoy.  Must have portable MP recorder or video recorder and the ability to upload video (convert first if necessary).
  • Chat Host.  We can use several "hosts" for regular online chats.  We are looking for some creative concepts like "Talking Club Dues with Bill Fooz" or "Speaking Like a Pro with Joe" -- you get the point.  This is all done on-line using web-based software.  you would set the times.  Once a week or once a month -- your call as the host.
  • Director of Member Support.  This member will assist members with technology questions about the website and help them to take advantage of the many great features available.
  • Director of Content.  This member will work with the district team and use the web-based HTML editor to create simple webpages for special district events. Candidates under review
  • Welcoming Committee.  These members will welcome new members to the website and offer to walk them through the different areas -- getting them used to the technology.
  • Meebo™ Monitor.  This would be a team of people who are frequently in front of a PC that can monitor the live traffic into the district website and answer basic district/toastmaster questions.

Full training is provided for all of the above mentioned positions.  A high-speed Internet connection is required.  You do NOT need to be a technical expert!  Basic web-browsing experience will do.
