F-E-A-R...

Thursday, May 29th @ 8:24 PMpost viewed 340 times

False Evidence Appearing Real. You know what that stands for, right? F-E-A-R…  Lately it seems I am noticing heightened fear all around me.

When I flip on the morning show to catch the weather for the day I hear and see stories about the latest weather-related tragedy, the most recent “Catastrophic Mistake” made by one of the presidential candidates, the pundits debating about whether we are officially in a recession or not (even thought the GDP statistics just released show that we are not).

$4 per gallon for gas! Oh my goodness... The sky is falling, the sky is falling! When did everybody get all “Henny Penny” on us? The fire station I pass on the way to pick up my kids has a sign out front that says, “$4 per gallon gas. Stay close to home this holiday weekend.” I guess now the fire department is interested in “saving” us from spending too much to travel.

So what’s up with all of this fear? Are you feeling it too? What can you do about it?

All fear is a result of our opinions and our opinions are the source of all our suffering. Fear is just our ego trying to protect us and keep us safe from every imagined “threat.” Your ego is the most primitive part of your brain. It was designed to keep you safe in the era when you were at risk of being eaten by a saber tooth tiger or kidnapped by a rival tribe. In a civilized society, the ego could easily take a rest, but it hasn’t learned that yet. It is still on high alert watching for possible indications that something bad is about to happen or that harm could possibly come to you.

When you operate from a state of fear, you end up attracting the very thing you are afraid of. Remember how long they’ve been talking about gas going up to $4 per gallon? It has been well over a year. They’ve predicted and predicted and predicted… and guess what, they finally attracted what they so feared!

Where are you buying into that group think? How often do you participate in those conversations about the “state of the economy,” or how expensive food has become, or whatever the latest doom and gloom is? Now let’s take a fresh look…

When is the last time you went hungry? When was the last time you absolutely couldn’t put any gas in your car or worse yet, didn’t even have a car to put gas in??

Now I’m not saying I love to pay a lot of money for gas... I don’t.

However, it is important to put this all in perspective. Let’s use some of our new “Bee”haviors to sort this all out. Here are a few to start with: Try identifying your limiting beliefs; reframing the situation; manifesting something different; finding your attitude of gratitude; or declaring the current situation PERFECT!

Let’s practice:

1) Limiting Beliefs: "Gas should be cheaper. It should be $2.50 per gallon." Really? Who says? If you had told me three years ago that a "good" price for gas would be $2.50 per gallon, I would have said you were crazy. $2.50 per gallon for gas, why that’s outrageous!

In reality, there is no actual price for gas that is “right” or “wrong.” It is simply your story (i.e. limiting beliefs) about it that makes it feel a certain way. Let go of the belief and change the feeling.

2) Reframe: I am really lucky that advances in technology allow me to have a car that gets lots of miles per gallon. OR I am so glad that school is almost out so I don’t have to drive my kids back and forth every day. By putting the situation in a new perspective I allow myself to experience different thoughts about it.

3) Manifest something different: "I intend to win free gas for a year. I intend to have a financial situation in which gas money is easy and effortless."

You control your outcomes. If you don’t like your reality. Create a new one!

4) Attitude of Gratitude: I am so happy and grateful that gas is ONLY $4 per gallon. It would certainly be much worse if it were $8 per gallon as it is in some parts of the world; or if there were no gas at all. I am grateful I have the option of buying gas to allow me to go see my grandchildren, and to get to my job to make a living. Gratitude is a powerful attractor and appreciating what IS creates a vibration that will allow you to attract what you want next.

5) Declare it Perfect! Gas is $4 a gallon and everyone is afraid to drive anywhere… Perfect! As people drive less, our environment is able to heal itself since there is less pollution. Also, the government is now more motivated to create alternative energy sources which will ultimately bring the cost of transportation down and be healthier for our environment.

See how your story creates your outcome? You can change your “reality” by changing your thoughts. Changing your thoughts changes your feelings. Peace is available to you whenever you choose it. Turn off the news, stop participating in conversations that are focused on fear and negativity, surround yourself with like-minded people who can help you reframe and manifest the outcome you desire.

Get yourself in the present moment. Nothing bad is happening to you RIGHT NOW. Operating from the present moment gives you power to operate from a new perspective. Begin to replace the chattering of your Funky Monkey with the calm voice of your inner self. Prophesize about the future you want to have and intend to create – not the one you predict will happen or worry will occur. Or worse yet… the one the newscasters and media solemnly create for you.

You have the power to direct your thoughts, and therefore, to direct your experience. Decide today that you choose a life of peace and serenity. Imagine the possibilities you can create from the space of no fear. Take inspired action to feel good and to keep your mind where it needs to be to manifest your desires.

The Universe is just waiting to deliver good things to you. It is simply waiting for you to get out of the way and allow the abundance to come to you. Life is good! It always has been and it always will be…. For those of us who recognize it as so!

You are soooo right. I see people all around me living in fear. It stops us cold in our tracks from living our dreams. Noticing fear based thinking around us and within us is the first step to changing our thoughts. So many people are worried about their money and fearful they will lose it and yet we are the richest country in the world! What I notice about fear is that it often starts with the scarcity mentaility that something is going to be taken away from us. Like children we cling to it and whine until we realize we'll be ok iif we don't have so many shoes, or if we can't drive around carelessly using up our resources. Fear spreads like wildfire. The ego loves to hear fearful stories and scenarios to validate it's victimhood. Turn off the TV tonight!

You're soooo right! What a great way to look at things and a great reminder of what we already know. Europeans have been paying these prices for years and they're not living in the wealthiest country in the world. We all need a checkup from the neckup!

Jody,

You're so right.  Life is 10% of what we get and 90% of how we react to it. We have a CHOICE every moment of every day to decide how we react to people, situations and circumstances.

With Gratitude,

Kim

I love being reminded that we run our lives around FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.  Actually it makes me laugh when I think of some of the things that I have been fearful of. We makeup stories and then we believe them to be true. I agree that we need to create some new realities that better serve us.  Rose I like your suggestion to get a checkup from the neck up.

Jody~

I re-read this again this morning...and you and the BuzZen Box are helping me to accept that I DO deserve good things in my life. It seems that every time something good happens in my life I do not think that I deserve them/it. And then of course my next course of action is to push it out of my life or get rid of it...and the vicious cycle starts all over again! But i do! Thank you for helping me slowly realize that good things are acceptable in my life and that I am deserving!!!

Hi Jody,

You hit the nail right on the head! FEAR - False Evidence Appearing Real - is rampant in the United States and the World. I highly recommend that anyone who worries about "global warming" read State of Fear by Michael Crichton; if not the whole story, the author's notes at the end. His comments are a real eye-opener about how we allow ourselves to be controlled by fear - if not this one, then that one, or another one, or another one.

Wake up everybody! Life is meant to be enjoyed! We are all worthy! All we need to do is stop the fear and allow the good!
