MeOakley.jpgHi folks, and thanks for checking out my web page!

To tell you a bit about myself, my professional career spans more than 20 years in the food, beverage & hospitality industry. I formed my own business in 1992 to train hospitality workers in responsible alcohol service. That business has grown over the years to encompass a wide variety of hospitality related services.

I joined Toastmasters a few years ago as I truly enjoy public speaking. I think one of the best things about public speaking is getting a fresh laugh out of the joke I've already told a few hundred times.

It's somewhat interesting how I joined Toastmasters. I forget how I first heard of the group, but I attended my first meeting in Marlborough, MA. The Thoughtmaster that night had a book titled, "Just Do It, Let Get Off Our Buts". Notice the spelling of "buts", it does not refer to a body part. Anyway, I hemmed and hawed about joining for a variety of reasons, none of them good. Things like, can I commit to the meetings, etc. Then I moved to the North Shore. I visited a few clubs and once again was indecisive. I had purchased the book, only to have it sit on my bookshelf and collect dust. One day, almost prophetically, a beam of sunlight came streaming into my office and hit the book.  So I got off my but, and joined the Back Talk Club in Peabody. What a great decision. I've since earned my Compentent Communicator award, served as VP of Membership and am currently serving the club as VP of Education. I have helped Victor Carbone with the Youth Leadership Program and have been appointed as District Public Relations Officer for 2007-2008. I've also competed in the International Speech Contest and appeared on Victor's TV show.

I'm an avid traveler and advanced amatuer photographer. Make certain you check out the picture at the bottom of this page. You can look at more photos on: www.flickr.com/photos/toast_master_rob

There is an underscore between the words "toast", "master" & "rob"

My company website is undergoing a makeover, but you can still view it at www.robstefanik.com
