The story so far...
DailyBread365 was created by Lucy-Ann Prideaux MSc BSc RNutr, a Registered Nutritionist in the UK.
During her near 20-year career working in the field of health and nutrition, Lucy-Ann has helped hundreds of ordinary people improve their health and wellbeing by making simple lifestyle changes; changes to their diets, exercise habits, and attitudes to themselves and their health. Along the way, she has also recognised the fact that many people, over time, ‘forget vital information’ or ‘fall back into old habits and behaviours’.
She soon became very aware that many people (especially at critical stages of the ‘change cycle’) need on-going training and education, as well as time, encouragement and support, to practise and instill permanent lifestyle changes.
Any individual who wants to permanently live a healthier lifestyle often needs help with the practical aspects of diet such as food education and "easy" food preparation, but many more need first to begin with themselves... building self-esteem, self-worth, self-belief, and understanding the importance of self-love, care and respect.
Lucy-Ann decided she wanted to create something, to support her clients for a far longer period of time, and more frequently than she was currently doing. She wanted to provide maintenance strategies around attitude and thought processes - including motivational drivers around self-belief, self-confidence and self-esteem - as well as offer a continuing stream of practical help and up-to-date diet and health education. She wanted to create "something" to do all the above, and of course be very cost-manageable too! The question Lucy-Ann asked herself was,
“How can I do all this… and how can I reach more and more people?”
The answer came to her whilst completing her own year-long, personal development eProgram. She found the ‘bitesize’ daily emails to be the perfect format for consistent progress and reasoned that her clients would also benefit from a similar format; small passages of useful information, every day for a year, would keep clients ‘on track’ beautifully! They would be well-informed and the longer, slower and drip-fed format would provide the time required to consolidate change with continued education, motivation and inspiration! After all, lifestyle change is never easy, and there are simply no “overnight” cures to satisfying most people’s wishes and desires! So, with a clear vision, and almost 3 years of writing (and re-writing), the content of DailyBread365 was ready for on-line delivery!
With the help of the technical team's head supremo, Claire Raikes (the site's Administrator), the website DailyBread365.com, was created! It is designed in such a way to deliver a weekly (7-day) format of daily e-mails in a pattern rotation designed to maximize engagement and ‘processing’ time. All e-mails cover the following “key” areas, all being associated with, and connected to successful lifestyle change, maintenance, inner and outer happiness, and overall health and well-being:
Days 1 to 3: Nutrition and personal development education.
Easy to read information combined with various practical exercises which draw on modern psychology, Neuro-linguistic Programming, Visualization, Affirmation techniques, and CBT.
Days 4 and 5: Soul food - an inspirational quote or piece of writing.
These days are deliberately ‘light’ compared to days 1 to 3. The quotes have been selected to reinforce that week’s educational message. They provide short, yet profound messages for contemplation.
Days 6 and 7: Meal solutions.
Instantly dispelling the myth that healthy food is boring and/or tasteless, the delicious recipes and menus have been developed especially for DailyBread365. New recipes are added to the site content all the time too. SO, you will always be inspired to eat good food, and will certainly never go hungry!
Of course, the next logical step for Lucy-Ann was to publish the DailyBread365 book, and stemmed from her desire (once again) to make the program as accessible as possible to all audiences, and not just those regularly in front of a PC! It was also a perfect option for those currently subscribed to DB365, who wanted reinforcement of information by reading away from their PCs. Dailybread365 book version will soon be available to purchase on this site.
More about the professional and non-professional Lucy-Ann... in her words!
"I have a Masters degree in Human Nutrition, which I gained in 1997, following my bachelor degree studies in Sport and Exercise Science. Prior to that (in my early 20’s) I taught many different types of exercise classes, and trained and worked as a personal trainer, all alongside my own training and competing in running and triathlon.
Since focusing primarily on Nutrition, coaching and educating people about food, exercise and lifestyle in general, I am lucky and extremely grateful to have worked in a wide and rather diverse variety of settings, both with the general public, businesses and corporations, athletes and sports teams, but always aiming to do one thing… improve people’s knowledge and understanding of food and nutrition, and “healthy living”, and what that means to them.
It is vital that each individual knows how he or she can use newfound knowledge to get where they want to go! After all, knowledge is not true knowledge until we have lived it! I’ve had wonderful learning opportunities and as such, have gained a wealth of experience as a practising Nutritionist, as well as developing my skills as a writer, and internet entrepreneur. My work is a true passion for me – simply because it enables me to do what I love doing… interacting with a variety of people, to teach and educate in exciting and inspiring ways, and of course to support people too, on their own personal journeys to better health, sustained weight loss, improved fitness, improved athletic performance, spiritual growth or simply more happiness and contentment in their lives. I always feel very privileged and grateful to be in such a position, to make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives. Naturally, I have a passionate interest and fascination with the subject of nutrition (relating to both ancient traditions, as well as modern science and modern living) but more specifically in the fact that what we eat (and how we live our lives) truly does affect our entire physical, mental, emotional AND spiritual health and well-being.
I bring to all aspects of my work, my growing knowledge and experience from my never-ending studies in Nutrition, health and well-being, and my own sporting and fitness background, as well my interest (and study) in Ayurvedic Medicine, vegan cuisine (which I follow), and spiritual learning and development.
Interests My main "everyday" interests outside of “work” are singing, swimming, triathlon (not competing!), yoga, and reading just about anything and everything to do with food and cuisine, nutrition, herbs, nature, natural health, and spiritual development. I love to prepare and eat wonderful organic and natural food too - of course!
Ayurvedic medicine (the ancient Indian science and philosophy of health and well-being) began as an interest or fascination to me some 5 years ago, but is now something I have completed formal study in. I am trained with the European Institute of Vedic Studies, and was taught by Vaidya Atreya. Ayurveda may be an "ancient" science (dating back some 5000 years), but it's still one that is highly relevant today, to human health, natural living, and prevention of disease. I incorporate many aspects of Ayruveda into my own life (particularly the use of herbs and spices, and daily spiritual practise), and where appropriate, into my working life too. I love the countryside and the natural surroundings and coastline where I live, and believe that Mother Nature is the true healer and companion in life!
I am so happy to be able to help and inspire the members (and non-members) at DailyBread365. You are ALL most welcome here, and I am very grateful and thankful to YOU for joining us!
I wish you all health and true happiness.
