On a visit to Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, CA, the aspiring poet Peter Menkin heard the musical group Hilliard Ensemble. Inspired by the sound, including the saxaphone of Jan Garbarek, this poem was born. Here it is as written and read by Peter Menkin.

The poem likens the musical experience to that of religious contemplation, or union with God. Photo of Rose Window by Henry Worthy, London (Camaldoli Oblate).
