With Christ

poem by Peter Menkin

 

With Christ,

Serenity.

With Christ,

Hope.

With Christ,

Charity.

 

There is faith,

Kindness.

There is love,

Knowing.

There is majesty,

Awe.

 

From Him,

Comfort.

From Him,

Gratefulness.

From Him,

Wisdom.

 

The serenity

Is beyond knowing;

Great peace.

The hope,

Causes the heart to grow large;

Enveloping others.

The charity,

Is of a special kind;

In humility of the self.

 

In the kindness

There is love,

A knowing majesty

Of awe bringing

Comfort, creating

Gratefulness that is itself

Wisdom.

 

These aphorisms come to mind,

As meditation leads to prayer,

And thanksgiving.

 

My heart is enlarged, it grows

With the humility of recognition

Of your enveloping charity

For mankind.
