Wolrd Youth Day pilgrims from the Community of St John join the community of Holy Trinity Dulwich Hill for prayer, food and celebration |
It was a truly ecumenical feast! The pilgrims were Catholic, the hosts were Anglican, the drinks were provided by the Salvation Army, and the meat came from Jim the Greek Orthodox Butcher! |
Big John the Texan and I provided some of the entertainment that night - John winning the 'I thumped Father Dave' trophy from a bevy of pilgrim contenders. |
John assures me that he's got his trophy proudly on display back at his home in Texas now. He's also now joined the Order of the Fighting Fathers. Check out his profile in the members gallery! |
The most tennacious contenders for the 'I thumped Father Dave' trophy were the Mexicans. Even after the trophy had been won, we had Mexican pilgrims (guys and girls) wanting to fight! |
It was a fabulous night that brought together such a variety of persons - Catholics and Protestants, Australians, French, Mexicans, Taiwanese and Americans, peacemakers and pugilists. |
