 March 4th - couldn't resist stopping by the Lee Chapel in Lexington, Virginia, to pay respects. Robert E. Lee is buried beneath the chapel. |
 March 5th - the Lee statue at Gettysburg - set on the line where Pickett's charge began (in 1863). |
 March 3rd - visited an enormous mural of Pickett's charge at Gettysburg. The painting is at least 20 feet (6 metres) wide and hangs in a business centre in Spartanburg, South Carolina. |

 March 5th - Scottie at the Armisted marker in Gettysburg. The stone marks where Gen. Armistead fell, and is the 'high-water' mark of the Confederacy. |
 March 1st - with Hugh and Scottie at Stone Mountain, Atlanta. The 3 horsemen are (L to R) Jefferson Davis (on Blackjack), Robert E. Lee (on Traveller) and Thomas 'Stonewall' Jackson (on Little Sorrell). |
 March 1st - the enormous carving at Stone Mountain, Atlanta, is far larger than Mount Rushmore, and the Statue of Liberty (if laid on its side) would only strech the length of Traveller's head. |
