This captures the stillness of a scene taken by Rick during his last trip to China. Lovely, I thought. So serene.

The photographer has a knack for vista.

Peter the keeper of this blog has this photograh, big. Or rather he gave it to his girlfriend Linda to hang in her bedroom. She likes it. It is a mystery or mystical photograph, a beautiful view, taken on Rick's last China trip. He prints his pictures at home for people, for he has a very high quality color printer. He uses excellent and large paper. He sometimes sells his photographs, and frames them for those who buy his work on his own. He enjoys doing this, and he is very particular about how the color is set and the photo prints. He will sometimes do two or three prints to get the picture just right.

As you may not know, I am working on a book of poetry. This photograph of water drops on a leaf is a candidate, though not chosen itself. Rick originally took this for one of my video poems. It did this no charge to me. He is a good friend. Note how well this close-up came out. One can see the drops. Rick has good and special digital cameras. He is father to nine children (was ten, but that one died as a baby. So he calls it nine. Funny.). Rick has 20 grandchildren and I've forgotten how many great grandchildren. As of this writing he is in Colorado ostensibly to hang some photos in a gallery there, but one of his daughter's lives there, too. Rick lives near San Francisco, Mill Valley, which is not 15 miles north of the City. He is my nieghbor.

This photo reminds me a little of a cross, and a little of Christ's writing on the ground with a stick. Or like the fish symbol of Christians. I have an imagination. It is also a little primitive, too. I thought it a good choice for the cover of my planned book of poetry, "Seasons of Faith." Rick says it is okay to use it. My Church friend Juliana, who has an excellent and privileged education, likes the photo for the book cover, too. She is helping on the book by editing. It was her suggestion to put the book together, which I continue to do. That is a big job. Let me impress you with Juliana's education credentials. I bet they are as good or better than her husband's, who is a working attorney in San Francisco. Juliana has two children, by the way, and is a housewife not a working attorney. She prefers being a mother and thinks it more important than having a job. She went to Harvard Law, and to Oxford. She is better educated and smarter than most--even men, I bet. But you wouldn't know it. She doesn't wear her fine education. I am grateful to her for her work on the book, and I have been following her advice. Thank you Juliana, who is about 35 or so (maybe 40? No.)

One of Rick's daughters, married, owns an organic Chicken Ranch north of here (Marin County, outside San Francisco). On a visit to her ranch, he took this photograph of one of his daughters taking a walk on the ranch.
