"Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and looking at his disciples, Jesus rebuked Peter, saying, "Get behind me, Satan! For you are not thinking God's thoughts but human thoughts!" " (Mark 8:32-33) How did the Apostle Peter manage to go from being 'the rock' upon which Jesus was going to build his church, to being 'Satan' all in the same breath! Clearly, following Jesus can be a difficult and confusing path to choose. Perhaps that's why Jesus was so keen that His disciples count the cost before getting involved. (first preached at Holy Trinity in September 2009)
