Vets iRest Private Forum

The Vets iRest Forum is a closed online community for War Veterans of any era who have been working with using the ten iRest meditation steps in the process of learning to alleviate the symptoms of P.T.S.D. such as insomnia, nightmares, irrational mood swings, isolation and physical and emotional pain.

Leaving war on the battlefield is a process that takes time and intention. Healing the invisible wounds of war is imperative to your success and happiness in life. Empowering yourself to return home without the baggage of your experience in the war zone is not only possible, but can improve the quality of your life, and your relationships with yourself and those you love. In the process, you may just help someone else more than you know.
Relying on the system to help you with re-entry is often fraught with pitfalls. Any organization may have holes big enough for real people to fall through. If you really wish to heal, the best option is self-directed practice. Embrace the possibility of self-reliance and you may discover inner resources you never knew about. You may have to suspend disbelief for a while, as if watching a movie that is hopeful. But if you can hang in there, you may learn how to remember without being triggered. How to turn off the hypervigilance now and then, so you can relax. How to rely on yourself as a source of security, without shutting out the rest of the people you love.
Thank you, in advance, for sharing your experience, strength & hope. This is a give and take tool for finding and giving support whenever you need it - any time, day or night. It beats having to wait until dawn on the nights when your mind is on overdrive.

This is a free membership site for self-directed practice and inspiration.

We provide resources for the study of three powerful practices for emotional and physical well-being: FELDENKRAIS, & iRest Meditation & Qigong. Each revolves around increasing our awareness. Each imporves our ability to tune into the aliveness of being alive in a much more subtle way. These are simple, profound vehicles for self-care, mindfulness, and spontaneous inspiration to alleviate the universal tendency to live on autopilot. New studies in neurology claim we are only conscious of 5% of our decisions! Here, you will find a wealth of support for an expansive life...for perhaps it is consciousness that really moves you. Consider this, and please join us in the incredible and often surprising journey of self-directed awareness...

"I struggled to understand ad reconcile how Western civilization, having achieved some outstanding accomplishments, could so often contribute to rather than alleviate human suffering...To remake the world, it seemed we needed to rethink it. After all, solutions depend on how problems are framed, the context within which they exist...Chinese medicine echos the logic of quantum physics, which suggests that we exist in a relative, process-oriented universe in which there is no 'objective' world separable from living subjects. The essential questions cannot be resolved by measuring static 'things'; rather, answers become stories about interactions and relationships. Within this paradigm contradictions are not only sanctioned, but prevail, and truth is purely contextual. In contrast with our conventional Western tendency to draw shapr lines of distinctions, Chinese thought does not strictly determine the boundaries between rest and motion, time and space, mind and matter, sickness and health..."

"Any life worth living is a continual allegory -- and very few eyes can see the mystery of that life...it is not the answers, but the mystery that leads us on."  - Keats

This is the epitomy of all these practices; they unveil the mystery of each life individually, revealing that which makes each life unique, special and intriguing, a journey worth taking that only you can take. - A note from Gabrielle
