I'd like to suggest a new list be added to everyone's page, similar in nature to the members list, but dedicated to anyone who has expressed interest in the club.

That would allow a general email to s"-Interested@freetoasthost.org" (along the lines of -officers@freetoasthost.org" instead of having to keep a separate list apart from the web page.

It would be easier to maintain and send out meeting invitations.

A new list alone won't really be all that useful. What is needed as well is a way to designate people as guests. These people should not be subscribed to the regular list. What I'd like to see is a dropdown list with several statuses (stati?), so that people could be designated as a regular member (subscribed to regular list), officer (subbed to that and the officer list), guest (subbed to neither of those, but to a new clubname-guests list, which could be written to by any member but read-only to guests), and maybe some other things, like inactive, assistant officer (read but not write officer list), etc.

However, I've been suggesting this for quite some time, so I don't think it's going to happen soon. :-(

Meanwhile... what you CAN do is have a club email address at Yahoo, GMail, Hotmail, or whatever, that gets passed from VPM to VPM. The current VPM can maintain a contact list there, of all current "prospects". This can be used to send out invitations to the next upcoming meeting. That trick worked VERY well for me when I was VPM.

Dave,

Thanks for that. Maybe if enough people ask for it, we can convince Brian to submit to the developer.

Brian,

What do you think?

I would really like to see this happen too.    Our club sends out weekly reminders of our meeting time, location and duty roster to our members a few days in advance of our meeting.   We use the FTH member address to do it.   We use the FTH officer email address list to email our officers.

Right now it is a big pain to try to keep a list of prospective or interested members that would like to be reminded of our meeting information.    It would be really handy to have the option to create one or more of these specialized lists for that purpose - or any other purpose we needed it for.

I see by the poll that there was lots of interest in this feature. This is the one thing that I think is missing that would be really handy and I've been using these websites for several years for multiple clubs.
