This is the forum for discussing FTH, asking questions, and reporting problems. In order to ask questions (post on this board) you MUST REGISTER for this support iGrOOp and be logged in.
We are happy to provide you with free support, but please, please, please follow these two simple requests: 1) Be sure to check the FAQs BEFORE posting your problem/question and 2) Include your FTH Website Address in every post. Thank you for helping us help you!
Our club is interested in creating a custom "splash" screen that would come up before the default page. There is no ability to edit the index.html up in the <header> area, or add javascript within the body, so it is possible?
I've already tried copying the index.html as raw html (harvested from a view source), and upload it as "index2.html"...and it works brilliantly. So if there was a way to simply intercept the default page...or have complete editing of it, this would work.
The flow would be something like this:
Index.html -->[redirects instantly]-->Welcome.html--->[user clicks 'continue']-->Index2.html (standard fth homepage)
I realize this is a hack, but it is something we'd really like!
There is no way to do that with FTH, you are constrained by the template on what you can do.

In addition to your technical question, let me ask the human-factor question. Why do you want to put up a splash screen?

Thanks for the quick replies. I think we will have to make do with a link.
We have a member who is learning Flash and offered to combine some of our club images in animated splash screen that everyone would see on visiting our homepage. The members, of course, would bookmark another page so they didn't have to see it everytime!

Charlie-
You say that your members would want to bookmark a different page, so they wouldn't have to see it every time. How many times do you think the general public would want to see it? What value will it add, that will justify how many views?
Our idea is that the website serves 2 purposes--to be a resource to members, and also to be a promotional tool for potential members. I doubt that potential members visit our site more than once or twice, so I don't see this being a typical annoyance that many splash sites bring.
But it's all a moot point; it can't be done anyway.
