The recent enhancement to the Blogs / Podcasts /Articles with the addition of "timed content" offers many interesting and unique applications.
Here are just a few tips on ways you can use the timed content tool in your iGrOOps website:
1. Combine the timed release of your blog posts with the autoresponder application and set up an automated process that works for you while you sleep.
For instance, you could offer a special bonus video in a timed blog post that a new member receives on their second day (or whenever) of membership. You create an your autoresponder to go out on that same day alerting the new member that there is a special video waiting for them back on the website. Now you not only can "drip email" your members but you can drip the premium content as well! Remember that this is something you only need to do once and from now on every new member would receive the email and the blog post on the day you specified.
2. Using the Blogs/Podcasts/Articles application, use the audio/video tool and record a personal message welcoming the new member to your website. Offer them some easy ways to get started using the site and perhaps provide a link to the iGrOOps video tutorials on how to use the applications. Set the timed release to be on the first day of membership and now you have offered something unique and personal to your new member. Follow this same model and create an audio message checking in with them 14 days/30/60/90 or whenever and provide your direct email so they can contact you if they have any questions.
3. To encourage new memberships offer something that they will receive every month (video, downloadable content, some valuable content etc..) simply for signing up. This prevents monthly subscribers from downloading all the content you have and then cancelling membership and it also helps to drive your members back to the website as each email invites them to view the new blog/podcast/article content that you have time released.
4. Help to monetize your membership site by creating a "Featured Product of the Month" and create 12 different Articles that showcases one of your products with a link to purchase or perhaps promote an affiliate and use an affiliate link. Release the content every month of membership.
The best part of this new functionality is that it is leverages the proven power of
an autoresponder with the enhanced content that a fully featured blog can offer and it drives the members back to your website rather than just reading your email or newsletter. It is also a huge time saver for you--once you initially create your content and use the "timer" you can simply "set it and forget it" and every new member will receive the info at the day/week/month you decided. "Autopilot" at it's finest!
