Pre-Sales Questions

Is there a place I can upload a plugin FLV streaming video player on our igroop site?

I want to be able to autoplay videos stored on a remote yahoo S3 server, on the igrrop site - by linking members through a thank you message and connecting them to our igroop site to watch them via an autoplay feature - - then upon completion of the video, have them on our igroop homepage.

Brett

Hey Brett,

Does the FLV player offer an embed code? If so, you can use the code (copy/paste) in the custom HTML content areas. If it is a javascript widget you can also now (new feature) enter javascript in either the left menu, center column or right menu--the option is under the 'homepage editor'.

Cheers,

Sean

Sean,

its actually a plug in player. (Not a remote player)

we have video files stored on a stand alone amazon server

This program puts the player on the igroop site, autoplays the remote video with a hidden url, and leaves them on the igroop site.

Not like YouTube which has the player on their server which would be linked to.

If the plugin player is a javascript file with the Amazon S3 hidden ULR it will lwork with the new functionaility of iGrOOps to include javascript in the left, center and right columns. I have aways used Amazon S3 with www.ezs3.com to create a player/skin that allows me to embed it with a simple javascript command. I have also heard great things about the open source video player, Flowplayer that allows for the same thing.

Those might be workarounds if your plugin requires that you upload the file to your website directory--which I believe cannot be done in iGrOOps but I will let Bo address that to be certain there isn't another way to handle that...

Any chance we can chat about this?

would the players that you mention, be uploaded on the Amazon S3 server? They are apps aren't they? So would you do this? You can run them on the S3 server - or can you?

The solution I am looking for is a way to play videos as a product, that does not show url or allow for download.

I just tried uploading a file on the video feature on igroops, then linking it to a custom page... then placing that page as a produc in the store. But, If we offer the 'video/mp3 feature' to members, they can simply click the video straight from the video/mp3 feature's folder... and bypass the store.

How are you using EZS3 player or Flowplayer? Are these apps residing on the Amazon S3 server? I do not have an external server w/ exception of the Amazon Server for staorage, not apps. Unless an app can work there?

I look forward to your thoughtful solution to my dilema

Hey Brett,

My experience is in using eZs3 with Amazon S3 and it works great...the program takes you from "upload to embed" with hardly any work. It gives you an interface where you easily create a custom player and then with one click you generate the javascript embed code that you copy/paste into any website editor--like iGrOOps. When you set up eZs3 it asks you for your AmazonS3 info so it knows where to call the video(s) from. It does cost $20/month though...

A free option to do what you want to do is to use Vimeo. That link goes to their page that explains the option to make your video private. You can add a password that you change anytime or you can include just certain, pre-approved people if you don't want a password function. If you need more space you can always upgrade to the paid plan at just $5 bucks a month for 5 gigs of upload PER WEEK.

Hope that helps and if not just give us a call and we can chat more...

Cheers!

Sean
