Can we have an option, when uploading or editing media, to NOT display the video's title publicly on the main page of the application? (In other words, it would be visible only to the person who uploaded it, and to admin.)
That way media files can be stored there (because they have to be) but accessed only from another page, where they make sense. |

Post moved to "Suggestions" category of the forum.
If members do not upload videos to your site, then a possible workaround would be to not provide your members a link to the Video/MP3 Gallery, and to instead create an "index" page of all of the videos you want members to see at will, and for those videos you want them to see within a specific content page, just leave them off that list, and add them to the custom admin webpage using the instructions provided here:

If this would not work for you, and you still want us to consider this suggestion, please reply back to indicate. Thanks. |

Hi Ryan - thanks for the workaround suggestion, but unfortunately it will not work for me. My members can upload their own videos. Also, I need the whole interface and functionality of the application so a simple index page won't do it.
I still would very much love to have the option to just check a box that says "Do not list on application main page" or whatever.
Thank you for considering this request!! |

Your suggestion has been received. A couple of other options to consider:
1) Create a Video/MP3 Gallery category called "Administrator Only Videos", and put them all in there. Deny all levels of member access. These videos will all have a "lock" icon next to them, and members will get a message that they don't have permission to access if they click the link
2) If you have one of our package that allows creation of multiple iGrOOps, just host your admin-only videos on another iGrOOp.
I realize the ability to "hide video on application page" is probably still your preference over these options-- just providing more options to consider based upon how things work today, as I do not know if or when your suggestion will be implemented.

Thank you for the additional workarounds. I might try hosting them on a different site (if I have time & patience to do that). But yep, I would love to just see the option to not show specific videos.
(About the suggestion to make a forum category... did you mean blog? Can we hide specific forums? Or do you mean I should make a subgroup just for myself? Hm, that's an idea. )
Thanks again for taking time to help! |

I edited my previous post to say "Video/MP3 Gallery category" (not forum category). Sorry for the confusion. |

OK, thanks - but I don't see any option in the video gallery to restrict a category to just some membership types...?
Actually, it would be GREAT if for every video category, or better yet, each individual video (and photo galleries too!), we could select which membership types were allowed to view it. That would give us the control we really need to manage our content. |

OK, I see the option now. (Was it there before and I just missed it?)
I did take your suggestion to create another iGroop and host some of my MP3s there. Now please tell me how I can get them to appear on a custom admin page on my other site...?
And while we're at it, how can I (or can I not) have multiple MP3s on one custom admin page? |

You can have only one media file from your Video/MP3 Gallery on a single Custom Admin Webpage. There is no way to embed a media file from one iGrOOp to display on a second iGrOOp. My suggestion about using another free iGrOOp was just to give you another place to host media files, if you did not want them to be "discoverable" by your members |

Oh... OK. I thought there was some way to host it on another group and link to it. Oh well!
Then I still really would love what I said. :)
About placing an MP3 on a custom admin page, I see the button to place a media file, but it gives five (?) file types - Flash, Shockwave, etc. - and none seem to apply to an MP3. What do I select? I tried everything just to try everything, but nothing has worked.
Am I missing something obvious here? (Probably!) |

Ignore that button if putting something on a custom admin webpage from your Video/MP3 Gallery. You'll need to indicate where on the page you want the video by putting your cursor there, then clicking the anchor icon, and typing MEDIA. Oh! Now I do remember reading that somewhere, back when I started reading all the info when I set up my groups. Thank you for the reminder. I was so confused! I'm happy now. :) |
