I have a few important requests for the blogs.

Right now when people post, their entries pretty much disappear and it's left more or less to chance whether anyone will find them and read them. I feature the maximum number on my homepage, but I would like it to be much easier for readers to discover all of the blogs.

So I have four suggestions:

1. Have an icon that appears next to a blog category when there are new posts in that category (for example, posted in the previous 24 hours or possibly the previous week - or alternatively - showing new posts since the last time the member was logged in).

2. Make member nicknames searchable using the search box on the main page of the blogs - so all of a member's posts will pop up if someone wants to read more by that person.

3. Add a button in each member's profile that says "see my blog posts" (similar to how it says "see my forum posts").

4. In the left-hand column in the blogs, where it lists the months etc... make it so that when someone clicks on a month, a list of posts in that month appears below it.

Thanks for considering these. Our blogs are getting busier, but without some enhanced functionality, they are not being read as much as they could and should be.

A few thoughts...

Re #3: for members who have started their own blog, this icon already exists in their profile.

Re #4: when you click on an archived month, if there is more than 1 post, names and links to all posts will display in left column.

Other ideas: activate the digest for the blog app (right column).

On one of your sites (room613) there's a featured blog post from June 2010...might want to keep those up for less time, so people don't go numb to it (from seeing it all the time).
