Q. Can I offer a link to a file download (PDF, MP3, Word Doc, etc.) for my members or guests?A. You can provide members and guests access to electronic downloads.
First, determine if you want the file to be accessed by members only, or by non-members. If you want non-members to be able to access the file, create a folder in your File Sharing application, and name it public (lowercase). If you want the file for members only, upload it to another folder.
Under Admin Options, check the box to "allow direct URL access" to the applicable folder.
Once the file is uploaded, refresh and scroll all the way to the bottom of the File Sharing app page. You'll see the URL for the file. Copy the entire URL.
Now go to the location where you want to make the download available (e.g, homepage editor, custom admin webpage, autoresponder message, etc.). Type into the text editor the word(s) or image you want people to click to get the download. Highlight the word or image, and click the chain link icon on the text editor. Paste in the URL for the file, and choose whether you want the link to open in a new window or the same window, and save changes.
Your hyperlink will now offer a download to anyone who clicks it!
