Q. Can I change my custom domain name?

A. If you are using an iGrOOps subdomain (e.g., http://yourfolder.igroops.com or http://www.igroops.com/members/yourfolder) and wish to use a custom domain name with your site, you can do so by following our instructions here (see Method #2). For any links you added to the site, you may wish to change them to show your new domain name (for branding reasons), however, the old links will still work.

If you are already using a custom domain name, and wish to change to a new custom domain name, you can do so, but please be aware of the following:

  1. If you leave your old custom domain name's A Host record pointing to the iGrOOps IP address (209.59.13.26), all of your links and images will continue to work without issue once you incorporate your new custom domain name.
  2. However, if you change your old domain name's A Host record, you will end up with broken links and images. Any hyperlinks that you manually entered (e.g., on your Homepage Editor > Text Menus & Submenus; on a Custom Admin Webpage, etc.) will need to be updated to reflect the new domain name. You will need to change just the first part of the domain (www.yourdomain.com), but you will be able to leave the rest of the file path "as is". For any images that are broken or not displaying, go to the editor where the images were added, and you should see the broken images while in edit mode. Click on the broken image, then click the "tree" icon (). Change the first part of the URL again (www.yourdomain.com), leaving the rest of the path in place, and click "Update". You should see your image restored.
