Have you been thinking about taking that next step into professional speaking?  How much investment does it take?  How long does it take to start making money?  What are some "must know" tips to get you started?  In today's podcast, Sarah Taylor has the answers.

About Sarah: Sarah Taylor is the owner of Taylor Presentations, a company offering motivational speaking and training specifically designed for pharmaceutical companies. She has over eight years of experience working for Merck & Co., Inc. in the pharmaceutical industry and has had professional training and speaking experience since 1994. She holds an MBA from Seattle University and an undergraduate Business Degree from the University of Washington. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, like the Journal of Ocular Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Investigative Ophthalmology in Visual Science.

Note on this podcast: Bo screwed up with some of the sound effects, and we were planning on editing it out, but it was way too funny, so we left it in.

Another fun interview guys! What Sarah's put together is a great training business model, and her loyalty to Toastmasters is admirable. And she's a great boss, too.

Wow! Sarah's amazing! I loved the way she kept promoting Toastmasters as a place to learn the skills needed to do what she does.

It's funny that it was the music that was involved in the "glitch" - - considering the discussion in the other thread about whether or not to include music!

Ha ha! Does that mean you're raising the white flag to Rich, Barbara? Just teasing! Innocent I should be careful, or someone will post on the devastating effects of music done poorly!Embarassed

Thanks for the feedback on the podcast, Rich & Barbara!

Enjoyed the interview with Sarah Taylor very much Bo and Ryan.  Quite an enterprising young lady.  Was fascinated when I read her article in the latest TM magazine, so was doubly fascinated to hear her in her interview with you guys.  Many thanks.

It is always fun listening to the TAG TEAM. I really enjoyed hearing how you two met and how you are now collaborating with iGroops and Talking Toastmasters!! It is equally great to have you both as Toastmaster members in District 31 !! May I suggest you get an interview with District 31 PDG Charlie Keane?! Oh BTW - the first female District Governor Bettye Underhill is attending our Fall Conference Nov 10th - it would be a treat to have her on too!! ------------------------------------ Sherri Raftery District 31 Lt. Just finished listening to Episode #12. Thought we were listening to a Prairie Home Toastmaster on NPR. :) We thoroughly enjoyed the segment. It was very creative and loaded with humor. Loved the trips back in time with the background sound effects. Also thought your apologies at the end to keep it PC were great. You guys make a great team. Keep up the good work! (Sounds like it's more fun than work.) Paul & Carol

So, Bo, if you've got extra room, I've got a few kids that can fill out that house.... Loved the Podcast - very I Love Lucy in a testosterone kind of way.

Episode #11 - Interview with Eric Feng

Thursday, October 4th @ 2:04 AMpost viewed 380 times

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

How can I overcome stage fright? What can I do to engage and connect with an audience? We've all asked those questions. In fact, some of us are still looking for answers (especially that first one, eh?)! Search no more! Professional speaker and public speaking coach Eric Feng joins us from Singapore today share his insights on these and other questions...and to tell us about his new book, The FAQ Book on Public Speaking.

Listen in as Bo throws Eric on the HOTSEAT as a gameshow contestant (remember what we did to poor Margaret Page in Episode #8 ?). Can Bo Bennett stump "Fearless FAQ Feng"?

Special Bonus: I'll bet you don't have an embarrassing speaking story that'll top the one Eric shared with us. Hint: it has to do with a wireless microphone in the restroom before going onstage!

(By the way, if you DO have a story that's just as embarrassing...or even close...share it with us! Maybe we'll even have you on the show!)

About our guest: A professional speaker and public speaking coach, at only 25 years old, Eric already has 5 books under his belt! His latest book, The FAQ Book on Public Speaking, written in a Q&A format, features expert advice and insight from Eric and his co-authors. As a celebrated Toastmaster in Singapore, Eric has won numerous national level speech competitions. In 2005, he won the championship title for the Division Level Humorous Contest in Philadelphia, United States. Two years later, he clinched the First Place Trophy for the International Speech Contest at Division Level. As acknowledgement for his speaking achievements, The Straits Times featured him as one of the top 25 alternate achievers of 2006.
