A Bennett Thanksgiving ~ 2007

Tuesday, November 27th @ 11:43 PMpost viewed 696 times

THANKS01.jpg

This is a picture I had to show. NEVER had we ever had so many people over for Thanksgiving dinner. Let me say -- it wasn't my idea. It was Irene's -- which s even MORE shocking! 17 dinner guests, three generations cooking (my mother-in-law, my wife, and my daughter.)

Thanksgiving was OUTSTANDING!!

We had family, friends and neighbors join us. After a several course meal (Irene is a phenomenal cook), we rested and THEN dessert and coffee came. The table was FULL once again with every kind of goodie you can imagine. Many of the guests brought a dessert.

After, we all gathered in the family room for some good 'ole fashioned SINGING! We had the keyboard, the microphones AND the voices! Everyone had a blast.

The party that began at 1:00 p.m. ended at 8:30 p.m. that night. WOW.

You may wonder.. who was the one who sat at the HEAD seat of the table? The one of course who was SUPPOSED TO!... My mother-in-law, Jadja -- the Matriarch of the family!!

What's incredible is that Irene is NOT the "let's have a big party" type. I am. I asked her what changed her mind?

She told me since the kids were a bit older (they're still young), she wanted to do more entertaining. Well, she DID.

Thanksgiving was always my favorite holiday. It was a day my family was always together -- JUST our family.  It was a day my father wasn't drinking, and the whole family -- well, was like a  NORMAL family. My mother did everything possible to make it one of the most special days of the year for her family. How I miss her.

When Irene and I married (almost 15 years ago), we decided Thanksgiving would be our holiday -- that she would carry on my mother's and the Bennett family's tradition.

Our children create a special card each year, and during dinner, it is passed around to everyone at the table. All need to sign it and write "What I am thankful for." To say this year's card was more than touching, is an understatement.

I am so thankful for family -- MY family -- the family that Jesus blessed me with.

I am blessed beyond words -- for Irene, my children, my family and true friends. Yet even more so, I am thankful for Jesus Christ and my salvation.

The LORD really has made EVERY DAY Thanksgiving day for me. Praise His holy name! ~ Stephen Bennett

Headed Down South

Tuesday, November 6th @ 8:31 AMpost viewed 460 times

I'm traveling again all of this week -- back down south to SC and GA. Will be meeting some new friends and visiting with others, also possibly singing on Christian television Thursday.

This year has been extremely busy - travel-wise - and after this week, only one more major event (as of now) to go. Then it's time for the holidays!

I'll post a video blog hopefully while down in SC and let you all know what we've been up to this very busy year at SBM!

God bless you all,

Steve
